Thomas M. Turner is an experienced and accomplished transactional lawyer. Mr. Turner is a shareholder of MGGM and has concentrated his 35 year practice in representing closely-held businesses and their owners in matters involving mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations, joint ventures, personal and succession planning; income, estate and gift tax planning; planning aspects involving the use shareholder agreements, operating agreements, buy-sell agreements and complex life insurance arrangements; as well as the selection and formation of various ownership structures including family limited partnerships, LLCs, C corporations and Sub-S corporations.
Key Experience
Mr. Turner has represented business owners, corporate executives and well known professional athletes on their estate and tax planning matters. He also has extensive experience in representing significant estates and trusts. His career commenced in 1973 with work on matters involving the estate of Harvey S. Firestone, Jr. His work since has included tax and administration matters of the estate of John S. Knight, one of the largest estates in Ohio’s history, and numerous other estates and trusts comprising substantial wealth.
Mr. Turner was a founder of Turner & Geisse LLC and was formerly a partner at Baker & Hostetler and at Thompson Hine & Flory in Cleveland, Ohio. He is also a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) having spent four years as a Tax Specialist at Coopers & Lybrand, CPA’s.
Education
Mr. Turner is a graduate of the Krannert School of Industrial Management at Purdue University, B.S. (1970) and University of Pittsburgh School of Law, J.D. (1973), and completed a course of study at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania in 1990, and The Program of Instruction for Lawyers at Harvard Law School in 1976.

Mr. Turner has held various leadership positions in the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, including a 3 year term as its Treasurer (2002-2005). He also served as a Member of its Board of Trustees, serving as a Member of the Long Range Planning Committee, Space Committee, Raise the Bar Committee, Fiscal Policy Committee (Chair), and Committee on Professionalism.
